Thanks for reading.
To be honest I spent mostly all my free time after work on machine learning and computer vision projects.
But to directly answer your question, I've studied common computer vision techniques in my MSc studies, so I was familiar with models used to solve pose estimation, semantic segmentation etc. So I would say the time required for me to learn the theory of some of the solutions was cut to half based on my previous knowledge.
Learning computer vision techniques on the job was relaxed. That been said, the implementation of these techniques was far from relaxed and I had to put in extra hours to ensure that I was doing things properly and fixing errors. In fact, I don't think the technical aspect and implementation side of machine learning is ever truly relaxed. Maybe when I have more experience I can solve problems quicker.
Just to mention that I do not expect the role or my workload to ever be truly relaxed, the machine learning and computer vision space is moving rapidly and in order to keep up, a lot of work outside normal work hours is required.
Thanks for your question.
